Ambassadors for Christ

We are therefore Christ's Ambassadors as though God were making an appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:20)

An amazing view point to see ourselves in the Kingdom of God. We are ambassadors for Christ. It is a wonderful revelation to me to find that we are ambassadors for our Lord Jesus. If we are ambassadors then we come from a Kingdom/Government which is of God.

When I started reading the Bible with this idea on mind (about me being an ambassador) it changed the way I look at things from the Bible and the way life now seems to me. More amazingly I found that the very first words recorded in the Bible ,of Jesus starting His minstry , was "Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is near" (Matthew 3:17).....it suddenly dawned on me...oh my God..this is what Jesus wanted to convey by all He said and did....and all the time His main aim was...reconciliation with God as Paul confirms in his letter to Corinth....that struck me hard.

Jesus wasnt trying to preach healing or doctrines or what we are to believe in...but was pointing us to a Living God through the healings, through the doctrines through the faith and beliefs which were all meant to get us connected back to our Father/Creator ....(reconciled:-To reestablish a close relationship between-http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=reconcile). That which was lost in Genesis, Jesus came to rejoin. Yeah we lost fellowship with a Loving Hevenly Father and Jesus His Son came to reconnect us to our Source of Life. This thought is too marvelous for me.

The very first preaching done in the New Testament was from John the Baptist in Matthew 3:1,2 "In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the Desert of Judea and saying "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is hear"....." He also spoke about the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus represented all that the Kingdom was, in and through His life, His words, His deeds...the Kingdom is one of Love (which is unconditional)...the Kingdom is of health (as Jesus healed all diseases)...the Kingdom is of peace (as Jesus brought peace being the Prince of Peace)...and much more we can discover for ourselves in His Holy Word.

Now I think we can explore what ambassadors mean (Philippians 3:20)...they are citizens of the Kingdom of God and not elected by people.....they are taken care of by their country/government (all their needs are met by their government-Philippians 4:19).

I heard this illustration from a preacher ( I think Dr. Myles Munroe) which explains what we have as ambassadors. There is this place which is very poor...dirty...sickness roams on all its people...their houses are broken...they roam lost looking for hope/meaning in life but none is found...in the midst of this chaos sits a wonderful palace like building where everything changes to the opposite of what that place is all about. People in this beautiful building are clean, joyful, well dressed, healthy, walking around the place with a purpose and enjoying life. What is this place ? How come its there? In the midst of such filth and dirt and yet maintaining its composition clean and free from what its surroundings have....what is this building? Oh well it is the embassy where the ambassdor of a country stays....a different country...not the one in which this building is but a better country which takes care of the ambassador while they stay to represent the country from which he/she comes. Thats how it is if we are ambassadors for the Kingdom of God. Our representation and citizenship is of heaven which Jesus our Lord and Saviour preached and which He represented so wonderfully. Its upto us whether we've got hold of this wonderful thought.

The real thought provoker is Myles Munroe's interview on a TV Broadcast. He has a book about it which better deals with this revelation God gave him "Rediscovering the Kingdom & The Principles and Power of Vision by Dr. Myles Munroe" hoping to get my hands on it and learn more.
