Dont Stop Midway

Now that Elisha had come to know that she did not have any children(2 Kings 4:14), she was blessed with a boy(2 Kings 4:15). "18 The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers. 19 "My head! My head!" he said to his father. His father told a servant, "Carry him to his mother." 20 After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died. "(2 Kings4: 18-20)

  1. We may be satisfied at where we are, but are we fruitful?-What this woman had been afraid of, had happened. She did not want a child(v16), she was content, but God had other plans for her, God had plans to show her more of Himself, His power to heal and to restore. She was going to see, that it wasn't enough for her to just be a well-to-do woman, but a complete woman who had children. Sometimes in our lives we are satisfied in being at the church every sunday, in every choir, in every church event. We are well-to-do spiritually, but God knows where we lack, we do not have fruit (like this woman did not have a fruit of her womb, though she sounded content). God would love us to have lives that are fruitful, lives that are capable of bringing up another life. Like a mother brings up her child. Fruitful lives. Are we fruitful? If not, don't be surprised if God would give us something we were afraid to have, like this woman was.
  2. Run to the One who gave, 'coz only He can save-"v22 She called her husband and said, "Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return." . Many times we may think we're able to resolve an issue on our own, our own prayer, our own efforts, I guess in this effort we tend to run in different directions, except the direction we need to run to. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:4-6 and this verse continues saying "6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" God knows the outcome of every situation better than we do, what we should do with the situation we're in is something only God knows and so its best we run to Him. Then we can all say like Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:11 "11And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. 12That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. "
  3. Not just on Sunday, but every day- When the Shunnamite woman decided to go meet Elisha, her husband wondered, 23 "Why go to him today?" he asked. "It's not the New Moon or the Sabbath." "It's all right," she said. However she knew that she could go to meet Elisha any time. So also must we know, our Lord expects us to come to Him at any time, for any need. "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.Hebrews 4:15-16

Conclusion:No matter what we're facing, we know for sure that God knows whats happening. Situations may not be the way we thought they would be, not the way we thought it should go, but God knows, He awaits with open arms to hug us, as we go running to Him. Don't we as parents open our arms to hug our little ones when they run to us? How much more our Living Lord, who gave up His own Son, just so we could also be His own."He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?Romans 8:31-33
